Anxiety and Burnout Counselling
"Vulnerability is not weakness, but the birthplace of connection, courage and authenticity, and is essential for living a full and meaningful life." - Brené Brown
Counselling
I am an integrative therapist and I offer counselling online and outdoors in nature (Walk & Talk therapy). I work with adults and young people (14-17), with a special interest in supporting those navigating anxiety, burnout and major life transitions.
Anxiety, burnout and change can create barriers to living fully, often disconnecting the mind and body as a way of coping. The body may store distress while the mind suppresses or rationalises overwhelming emotions, leading to numbness, anxiety or feeling stuck in survival mode. My approach focuses on reconnecting mind and body, fostering healing, resilience and personal growth. I have a passionate interest in the nervous system and I will help guide you to a way of living a life where regulation, awareness and inner balance become your new normal.
Clients often come to me feeling anxious, overwhelmed and unsure of who they really are anymore. Through our work, they begin to understand themselves in a new way; things finally start to make sense. They feel more in control, more grounded and able to set boundaries that once felt impossible.
There’s often a shift in how they see the world and themselves. They begin to build self-worth, find balance and create space to just be. They stop living according to other people’s expectations and start reconnecting with what truly matters to them.
Clients have said they feel more confident, more self-aware and better equipped to handle life. One even joked that I’m like all three of Scrooge’s spirits - helping them make sense of the past, feel present and see what’s possible ahead.
I offer both long and short-term therapy, tailored to your unique needs. Sessions are available in person at my therapy room in Wingate (TS28 5HD) online and if you’re local to Sedgefield, we can also meet outdoors for Walk & Talk therapy in beautiful natural spaces. Our work together may integrate talking therapy, trauma-informed approaches, CBT, mindfulness, breathwork, reflection and journaling prompts, as well as cutting edge neuroscience theories to underpin my approach. If you're unsure of what you need, I help you explore and discover the best path forward.
I think a lot of my clients feel safe with me because they know I genuinely get it. I’ve lived through my own share of overwhelm, emptiness and burnout trying to keep going for everyone else while feeling totally lost inside. I’ve had to rebuild, re-learn how to take care of myself and figure out how to live in a way that actually feels authentic and peaceful.
I don’t sit across from them as an expert with all the answers, we work things out together. We get curious. I bring in CBT, journalling, mindfulness and practical tools but I also make space for self-compassion, for rest, for understanding what’s really going on underneath the anxiety or exhaustion. Whether we’re sitting in a room or walking through the woods, my aim is always the same: to help those I hold space for feel a bit more like themselves again: clearer, lighter and more able to breathe.
